My Destiny

Copyright 2019 by S. Thomas Kaza

It follows me ‘cross the great, wide sea

It follows me where I make land

Relentlessly it follows me

But no more do I understand

At times it seems like an anchor

Holding me close to shore

And all I try to endeavour

Is a hard and cheerless chore

At times it feels like a fair breeze

Driving me out ‘cross the Main

And all of the gold in the Seven Seas

Is not worth the blood in my veins

At times it is a mad cyclone

Stirring the sea to a boil

And all I can do is hang on

To brave the test and the toil

Then suddenly it stills to a great calm

Easing my old, troubled soul

As if God Himself applied a balm

To once again make me whole

It follows me ‘cross the great, wide sea

It follows me where I make land

Relentlessly it follows me

But no more do I understand

No more do I understand
